Can a cutting board serve as decoration?
Definitely yes! A wooden board, in size and style matched to the atmosphere of our kitchen, is also an interesting decoration and eye-catching accent. The board can be combined with other teak accessories – bowls, kitchen utensils or containers. A kitchen board is also perfect for serving dishes and snacks. The cake, cheese or cold cuts served on a wooden board look exceptionally appetizing. What’s more, they do not require additional decorations, since a beautifully colored board makes a very original background itself.
Teak wood – 5 minute care
Balinese craftsmen protect the raw teak with beeswax, thus revealing a subtle sheen as well as wood’s natural color and grain. We all know that kitchen board’s life is quite intense. Cutting, pounding and washing makes the wax layer disappear. So, how protect the wood from stains and drying out again? Nothing easier. For this purpose, we reach for some vegetable oil – the same that we use in the kitchen. With a soft cloth we apply one or two layers of oil and, there you go, our board shines again. In case of more persistent stains, before applying the oil, it is good to scrub the board with a rough sponge in water with mild detergent. Please note, that teak naturally has got some oily substances in its structure. Thanks to that, the stains are usually superficial only and dirt does not penetrate into the deeper structures of the wood.
